At Velvet Frenchie, the health, comfort, and long-term well-being of every puppy remain at the heart of what we do. We raise our puppies with care, complete appropriate health checks before placement, and provide every family with clear expectations regarding the protection included with their puppy.

This guarantee applies only to the original Buyer and is subject to all terms outlined below.

Companion-Home Placement

This French Bulldog puppy is sold strictly as a family companion and not for breeding purposes.

Before leaving Velvet Frenchie, every puppy will receive a complete health examination.

One-Year Congenital Health Coverage

Should the puppy be diagnosed with a life-threatening congenital defect within one year of its date of birth, the Buyer may qualify for a refund, subject to the terms of this agreement.

To qualify, the Buyer must provide written and conclusive diagnoses from two separate licensed veterinarians. Each report must:

  • Clearly identify the puppy concerned.

  • State the specific congenital defect.

  • Confirm that the condition is life-threatening.

  • Provide a conclusive professional diagnosis.

A speculative, uncertain, or inconclusive diagnosis will not qualify for a refund. No exceptions will be made.

All documents submitted in support of a claim may be independently verified by Velvet Frenchie.

Buyer Care and Responsibility

Velvet Frenchie cannot be held responsible for faults, illnesses, viruses, injuries, or disorders resulting from the Buyer’s negligence, improper care, unsuitable living conditions, preventable trauma, excessive exercise, or failure to follow veterinary advice.

No refunds will be issued for reasons other than those specifically covered by this agreement.

Conditions Not Covered

This guarantee does not cover common ailments or breed-related conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Hookworms

  • Demodex

  • Hernias

  • Hip concerns

  • Patella concerns

  • Small nares

  • Elongated soft palate

  • Hemivertebrae

  • Cherry eye

Common and treatable puppy illnesses, including Coccidia, Giardia, and Kennel Cough, are also not covered because they are generally treatable and are not considered life-threatening congenital defects.

Velvet Frenchie strongly recommends avoiding dog parks, public dog areas, and daycare facilities during the puppy’s vulnerable early months, as these environments can expose even vaccinated dogs to contagious illnesses.

Severe Hip Dysplasia

A claim involving severe hip dysplasia must be supported by appropriate X-rays and a veterinary diagnosis confirming that the condition is graded as severe.

Mild hip dysplasia is not covered because it may be influenced by environmental factors such as:

  • Trauma

  • Excessive exercise

  • Rough play

  • Improper weight management

  • Jumping from furniture or high surfaces

Spinal Abnormalities

French Bulldogs commonly have one or more hemivertebrae. The presence of a hemivertebra alone does not automatically indicate a life-threatening condition or qualify for a refund.

Claims involving severe spinal abnormalities will be reviewed individually, with consideration given to:

  • The puppy’s quality of life

  • The attending veterinarian’s professional opinion

  • The severity of the condition

  • Whether corrective surgery is medically necessary

The Buyer should not allow the puppy to jump from beds, couches, stairs, or other elevated surfaces. Repeated impact may cause an otherwise non-symptomatic vertebral abnormality to become painful or medically significant.

Sudden or Unexpected Death

In the unfortunate event of a sudden or unexpected death, a complete necropsy must be performed at the Buyer’s expense.

The Buyer must provide:

  • The full necropsy report

  • A conclusive diagnosis confirming that the cause of death was directly related to a congenital defect

  • The puppy’s registration documents, where applicable

  • Any additional veterinary records requested for review

Without a conclusive necropsy report, no refund or health claim can be considered.

Veterinary Expenses

The Buyer understands and agrees that Velvet Frenchie is not responsible for veterinary bills, treatment costs, diagnostic fees, medication expenses, surgery costs, travel expenses, or any other medical costs incurred after the puppy leaves our possession.

This guarantee does not provide reimbursement for veterinary expenses.

Vaccination and Preventative-Care Protocol

To maintain the validity of this health guarantee, the Buyer agrees to follow a conservative vaccination schedule in consultation with a qualified veterinarian who understands the health sensitivities of French Bulldogs.

The recommended core vaccines are:

  • Canine Distemper

  • Parvovirus

  • Adenovirus, also known as Hepatitis

  • Rabies, where legally required

Rabies vaccination should be discussed carefully with the Buyer’s veterinarian and administered in accordance with applicable local laws. Velvet Frenchie recommends avoiding unnecessary early vaccination where a veterinarian determines that delaying vaccination is safe and legally permitted.

Where available and approved by the attending veterinarian, the Buyer should request a thimerosal-free killed rabies vaccine. Rabies vaccination should preferably be administered separately from other vaccines, with appropriate monitoring afterward.

Non-core vaccines should only be given when reasonably necessary based on the dog’s lifestyle, environment, exposure risk, local disease prevalence, and veterinary advice. These may include:

  • Leptospirosis

  • Bordetella

  • Lyme disease

  • Canine influenza

The Buyer agrees to discuss the risks and benefits of all vaccinations with a licensed veterinarian.

Where medically appropriate, vaccinations should be spaced at least four weeks apart. Multiple vaccines should not be administered during the same appointment unless the veterinarian determines that it is necessary and safe.

If the Buyer chooses to administer non-core vaccines contrary to veterinary guidance or the agreed care protocol, and the dog subsequently experiences seizures, injury, or another adverse reaction, Velvet Frenchie will not be responsible for the resulting condition or expenses.

Vaccination Records

The Buyer must maintain accurate vaccination and veterinary records throughout the dog’s life.

These records should include:

  • Vaccine name

  • Vaccine manufacturer or brand

  • Lot or batch number

  • Date administered

  • Name of the attending veterinarian

  • Details of any adverse reaction

The Buyer must monitor the puppy following every vaccination and immediately contact a veterinarian if unusual symptoms or reactions occur.

The Buyer should also inform all attending veterinarians that French Bulldogs may have breed-specific sensitivities that require careful consideration.

Veterinary Record Release

For any health-related claim, the Buyer agrees to authorize the release of the puppy’s veterinary records to Velvet Frenchie or to a veterinarian appointed by Velvet Frenchie.

The required authorization and relevant records must be provided within 72 hours of the claim being submitted.

Failure to provide complete records may delay or invalidate the claim.

Pet Insurance

Velvet Frenchie strongly recommends that every Buyer obtains comprehensive pet insurance before or immediately after bringing the puppy home.

French Bulldogs can require costly veterinary care, particularly when accidents, emergencies, chronic conditions, respiratory concerns, allergies, spinal issues, or unexpected illnesses arise.

A suitable pet insurance policy can help reduce the financial burden of:

  • Accidents

  • Emergency treatment

  • Diagnostic testing

  • Illnesses

  • Surgery

  • Chronic conditions

  • Specialist veterinary care

The Buyer understands that the cost of responsible dog ownership can be substantial. It is therefore the Buyer’s responsibility to obtain and maintain adequate insurance coverage for the puppy.

Non-Transferable Agreement

This Sales Contract and Health Guarantee are issued exclusively to the original Buyer and are non-transferable.

Should the Buyer sell, transfer, surrender, rehome, or otherwise relinquish ownership of the dog, this agreement will immediately become null and void.

Claim Verification

All information, veterinary records, diagnoses, reports, invoices, registration documents, and supporting materials submitted for refund consideration will be reviewed and may be independently verified.

Velvet Frenchie reserves the right to contact the attending veterinarians directly and to request additional records where necessary.
